Frequently asked questions
How much is a 1-hour remedial massage at West End?
A 1-hour remedial massage with Gabrielle Moore costs $115 at 368 Montague Rd, West End. Shorter and longer sessions are available, with prices adjusted to suit the appointment length. A 30-minute treatment costs $86, while a 90-minute treatment costs $167. Packages are also available on request. See the website footer for more appointment lengths and prices.
What's the difference between a regular massage and remedial massage?
A regular massage often focuses on relaxation and general muscle tension. Remedial massage starts with an assessment of a specific concern, such as pain or restricted movement. Gabrielle asks about your symptoms, movement, work, training and goals before choosing techniques for the session. Treatment may include gentle soft-tissue work, deeper pressure, trigger-point therapy or myofascial release.
Massage can support symptom management and comfortable movement, but it does not replace medical care.
Which treatment should I book?
Start with the main reason for your appointment rather than trying to choose a technique. Tell Gabrielle where you feel discomfort or restriction, what affects it and what you want to do more comfortably. She can then assess your presentation and discuss suitable treatment options.
If you are unsure before booking, Contact Gabrielle.
What happens during a first appointment?
Gabrielle begins with a conversation about your health history, symptoms, daily activities and goals. She may observe selected movements or examine how an area responds before discussing a treatment plan.
Gabrielle explains the proposed approach and asks for your consent. She then adapts the hands-on treatment to your comfort and response. The appointment may finish with practical aftercare or movement suggestions.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move during the assessment. For hands-on treatment, you can undress to your level of comfort. Gabrielle uses towels and draping to keep areas that are not being treated covered.
If you'd prefer to remain clothed, just let Gabrielle know. She can adapt the treatment to suit your comfort while keeping the focus on what you need.
Does remedial or deep tissue massage have to hurt?
No. Gabrielle builds pressure in stages and checks how the treatment feels. Your breathing, movement and feedback help her judge whether to continue, reduce the pressure or use another technique.
Tell Gabrielle when pressure feels useful and when it feels too strong. Treatment should feel safe and manageable.
How long should I book?
Choose a longer appointment if you want to discuss several areas or allow more time for assessment and treatment. If you are unsure which appointment length suits your needs, Contact Gabrielle before booking.
Can remedial massage be covered by Medicare?
No. Medicare does not cover remedial massage appointments with Gabrielle Moore. Medicare rebates are available for some allied health services under a GP chronic condition management plan, but the Medicare Benefits Schedule does not list remedial massage as an eligible service.
You may be able to claim Gabrielle's remedial massage treatment through private health extras cover instead. Check your policy with your health fund.
Can I claim a private health fund rebate?
Gabrielle is registered with participating health funds, and HICAPS is available at the clinic for eligible remedial massage claims. Your rebate depends on your fund, level of extras cover, annual limits and the service you book.
Check your cover with your health fund if you are unsure about eligibility or the amount you can claim.
Does Gabrielle offer pregnancy massage?
Yes. Gabrielle offers pregnancy massage and adapts positioning, pressure and treatment to your comfort and stage of pregnancy.
Tell Gabrielle about your pregnancy and any health concerns before treatment. Ask your doctor or midwife whether massage is suitable if you have complications, have been advised to limit activity or feel unsure.
How often should I have remedial massage?
The useful interval depends on your symptoms, goals, activity and response to treatment. Some clients book a short series while working on a specific concern. Others return when their workload, training or movement needs change.
Gabrielle can suggest a timeframe after assessing you. You can then decide whether that approach suits your needs.
Can I exercise after a massage?
Your response to treatment and the type of activity you have planned should guide the decision. A gentle walk or normal daily movement may feel comfortable, while hard training can feel different after a focused session.
Tell Gabrielle about upcoming training or events so she can adjust the appointment and discuss an appropriate return to activity.
Can I feel sore after a massage?
Yes. Some people feel temporary soreness or tenderness after massage, particularly after firmer or more focused treatment. The intensity varies from person to person.
Gabrielle adjusts the pressure during treatment and can discuss what to expect afterwards.
Is there free parking onsite?
Yes. Three free, signposted parking spaces are available directly outside the clinic for Next Level Health clients. The front door is only a few metres from the spaces. If they are occupied, parking is available under the nearby Woolworths, about a five-minute walk from the clinic.
